Oil Pan Gasket Replacement Service & Cost

What is the Oil Pan Gasket all about?

An oil pan is a metal container that contains the engine oil. The oil pan gasket seals the oil pan to the bottom of the engine. The engine has a lot of moving parts that need to be kept lubricated by the engine oil, without which the parts will damage each other. The oil pan and the gaskets are located under the car and are attached to the bottom of the engine. It is common for the gaskets to wear out and start leaking oil. You will see oil on the ground beneath your car. If the oil is leaking, you may see an engine oil warning light in the dashboard. If you continue to drive your car without the proper amount of oil, you will risk severe damage to the engine.

Keep in mind:

  • If road debris has caused damage in your oil pan gasket, then your oil pan may be damaged as well.
  • Oil pan gaskets can collect grease from many leaking parts. It’s important for a mechanic to verify that the gasket is leaking directly from the oil pan, and not just collecting oil from a different leak.
  • Oil pan gaskets can be made out of many different materials.

How it's done:

  • Check oil pan for leaks and damage.
  • Remove engine oil pan and gasket.
  • Remove oil and filter.
  • Clean oil pan.
  • Install new gasket.
  • Add new engine oil and filter.
  • Run engine to operating temperature and check for any oil leaks.

Our recommendation:

Any time your vehicle is serviced or inspected, you should have the oil checked. Even if a mechanic doesn’t look at your oil pan gasket directly, simply checking the oil will usually indicate if there’s a problem. If your Oil Low warning light becomes illuminated or you notice that your vehicle is leaking oil, schedule an inspection immediately.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Oil Pan Gasket?

  • Consistent oil leak in the same spot under your car.
  • Smoke from engine compartment due to oil leaking on hot exhaust pipes.

How important is this service?

Your engine needs oil to function properly and safely. The oil in your car is collected and stored in the oil pan. The oil pan gasket acts as a seal for the oil pan. When the gaskets are damaged, oil will leak out of the oil pan, past the gaskets, and out of your engine. As a result, your engine will lose oil, which can result in catastrophic engine damage.

Fast and easy Oil Pan Gasket Replacement service at your home or office.

Pete

There are three major things I look for in a mechanic: efficiency, honesty, and inclusion. For my No Start Inspection, Pete used the available clues to jump straight into the likely source of the problem. Although he did take many factors into consideration, he didn't waste any time chasing parts that were already previously inspected or even unrelated. As a young woman, I also look for and appreciate mechanics that include me in the process. Pete took me seriously and took the time to explain his process on my own level of understanding. My experience with Pete was not just a repair service, but also a learning opportunity. Even though I trusted his opinion, he still showed me the faulty part and explained exactly why this part was the source of the problem. Rather than feeling frustrated or discouraged by the needed repair, Pete has given me the confidence and satisfaction that my car will be able to be put back in great condition.

Ejnar

I called up "Your Mechanic" to diagnose engine light on "2000 Honda Odyssey". Ejnar was on time for the A/P. It was his first week with "Your mechanic". He was there for an hour. He found 2 codes during diagnostics. He had some idea about the diagnostic codes found. But he was not sure about it. He had trouble logging into the database as he did not knew the login/password. He tried calling someone to verify the code found, maybe "your mechanic", but was kept on hold for a long time. After an hour, he left, saying will get back to me regarding the codes. One of the diagnostic code was related to "transmission". He did not have work experience working with "transmission". Also "Your mechanic" do not service "transmission" related issues. This is not good for the customer, as I will have to again take the car to some other body shop for the transmission problem. I called up "wheel works" and they quoted $160.00 for the diagnostics of the transmission code. They would not rely on the code found by "Your mechanic".So in a way I will be spending money again on the diagnostics. The service report which I received from "Your mechanic" had quotation for fixing one of the codes. But no mention of the transmission code found. Also I had to call them to email the "service report". It was not found on the web site under my A/C. I am going ahead with "Your mechanic" to fix one of the codes related to "Evacuation Solenoid Valve" as they are giving me credit for the diagnostic fees. Overall an okay experience. They still need to win my trust. So my overall experience with "Your mechanic" is 2 to 3 star as of now.
