Unless a vehicle is equipped with built-in massagers, the feel of vibrations coming through the driver’s seat can be an alarming experience. Luckily, there is a fairly limited number of components that would cause such an issue.

Common reasons for this to happen:

Seat is not fully secured to vehicle

Over time, bolts and hardware holding the seat to the vehicle can loosen or wear out. Sometimes this can be fixed with a few turns of a wrench, so it should be addressed immediately for comfort and to ensure the safety of the car is maintained.

Worn out suspension parts

The suspension in a vehicle performs the task of keeping everything smooth and level while traveling down the road. If any components malfunction, become loose, or bend, then the result may be vibrations in the vehicle. In the case of a vibrating driver’s seat, suspension components in the rear are a likely culprit. If the vibration gets worse when the road surface is rough, then this is probably the source of the problem.

Warped brake disks or drums

Brake disks or drums provide a surface for the brake pads to grip onto when the brakes are applied in order to stop the car. If the rotor or drum is warped in any way, then the friction provided to the brake pads is intermittent. This intermittent friction can cause vibrations and often sounds like the brake is slipping on the disk. Vibration that occurs only during braking is an indicator that this is the problem.

Unbalanced wheels

In order to rotate smoothly and evenly, wheels must be properly balanced. If something happens to the wheel or tire that disrupts the distribution of weight, violent shakes and vibrations can occur. If the vibration occurs consistently around a certain speed, then this is likely the issue.

What to expect:

A top-rated mobile mechanic will come to your home or office to determine the source and cause of the shaky or vibrating seat, and will then provide a detailed inspection report that includes the scope and cost of the necessary repairs.

How it's done:

The mechanic will ask about any recent potholes, bottom-outs, or collisions that the vehicle may have experienced. Following that, they will inspect the wheels, axles, and any driveshafts on the vehicle.

How important is this service?

There is a heightened importance with any problem that causes vibration in the vehicle. Vibration means that somewhere there is a component that is unbalanced. Unbalanced components will typically fail in motion and tend to carry a lot of inertia with them when they do. Small, inexpensive parts have the potential to damage far more expensive parts in these dynamic kinds of failures. Book a mechanic when the problem is first detected.

Nissan NV1500 V6-4.0L - Oil Change - Norcross, Georgia
Jose not only arrived on time he called to see if he could be there early. He is a very friendly, smiling and polite young man. I immediately felt I could trust him and as far as I know, he did a good job. I will ask for him personally on all of my truck and car maintenance and repair. Your Mechanic is a great business model and I think everyone should support them so they will succeed and be around from now on. I've found in the last fourty years of automobile ownership, that regular maintenance and upkeep will extend the life of a vehicle significantly. I believe Jose can do any of this and more.
