If you live in a warm climate, and you’ve bought a used vehicle, the vehicle may have been modified to include a heater control valve bypass tube or hose. Your heater control valve works to deliver heat from the engine to the passenger cabin of your car, and if it has been bypassed, then the cabin will not receive heat. Instead, it will be dissipated by means of the bypass hose.
We don’t recommend installing heater control valve bypass hoses. Vehicle manufacturers install heater control valves in the engine cooling system for a reason. Still, if your vehicle has been modified to include a bypass hose, and it develops problems, this is an issue best handled by one of our expert mechanics.
Leaky hoses of any kind should never be ignored. If the bypass hose becomes damaged or compressed, the coolant in your engine will not move properly, and your vehicle could overheat. When this happens, engine components can be severely damaged, and you may end up replacing the entire engine. Our professional mechanics can determine if the malfunction in your car cooling system is due to a faulty bypass hose or another problem.
