The engine produces fumes from the combustion process called exhaust. These fumes exit through an exhaust manifold and enter the exhaust pipe. The exhaust pipe carries the exhaust fumes through the catalytic converter, through the muffler, and finally exiting the exhaust tip. Oxygen sensors that monitor emissions levels are screwed into exhaust pipe ports. The exhaust pipe is exposed to corrosive gases and extreme temperatures that can exceed 800 °F. Over time and exposure, the exhaust pipe can begin to rust through from the inside or outside, or the pipe can crack at any of the several flanges along the exhaust pipe.
When the exhaust pipe cracks or a hole forms in the exhaust pipe, it’s time to replace it. Use a high quality stainless steel replacement exhaust pipe to ensure a long life and quality fitment.
Delaying the replacement of a broken or leaking exhaust pipe can lead to the Check Engine light coming on, excessive irritating noise, premature oxygen sensor failure, and noxious fumes can enter your vehicle. Replace a leaking exhaust pipe as soon as possible.
