What is the Windshield Washer Reservoir all about?

Windshield washers serve a simple yet extremely important purpose. A dirty windshield obstructs the driver’s view. They are important especially in very cold climates or in areas with a lot of dirt roads. The windshield washer reservoir holds the fluid that is sprayed onto the windshield. The windshield washer reservoir is usually made of a white, semi-transparent durable plastic and will often have a black or colored plastic cap. The capacity of the fluid reservoir depends on the make and model of your vehicle, but usually ranges from 1 to 1.5 gallons.

Keep in mind:

Frozen washer fluid is a big contributor to cracks in the reservoir.
Different washer fluids are approved for different seasons; make sure to use the correct season's fluid.
Repairs may slow the leaking, but most cracked reservoirs need to be replaced completely.

How it's done:

The vehicle hood is raised and secured in the open position
The windshield washer reservoir is unbolted from inner fender and removed
The washer lines are cleaned and flushed out
The new washer reservoir is connected and installed then filled with washer fluid
The wipers and washers are tested for proper operation

Read your owner's manual to see if the manufacturer suggests certain fluids for certain reservoirs. For example, the reservoir to headlight-mounted washers may only take non-freezing fluid as the headlights do not get as warm as the windshield in cool weather. Have one of our expert mechanics inspect the whole windshield washer system when inspecting the reservoir. A reservoir with a crack should be replaced.

Without a doubt Michael is the best mechanic in Charlotte!!! He showed up an Hour early for my appointment because he knew everything I was going through was last minute and wanted to get to me as soon as possible!! My car was stranded at a friend's house and was not there when he arrived but he basically completed my service by the time I had arrived (still 40 minutes before my scheduled time) and was nice enough to look at my friends car while he was waiting on my keys to finish up with my appointment!! My friend needed almost 3 bottles of transmission fluid because it was so empty and Michael happily filled his transmission with fluid he had on him...Free of charge!! And diagnosed my friends car with his recommendations for that as well. Honestly can not say how how I am Michael is my Only mechanic!! I have a 95 Jeep Wrangler 4 cylinder. It has been running awesome until the other day when I put it in reverse. Backed up and depresses the clutch and brake to stop to shift into first and park it. When I hit the brake the engine was definitely under a little load. You could feel it still trying to pull. I could not get it out of reverse. I shut it off and wiggled it for a little and it came right out and ran fine the rest of the night. Now it is happening more often. I’ll start it in first with clutch depressed and it pulls a little. Early tonight I checked the fluid in the transmission and it was full. I started in neutral and I could not get it to go into a gear at all! Shut it off and it would not go into a gear. Let it sit about 5 minutes and it went into a gear and ran fine.

2011 mazada 3 and it uses synthetic oil. i have over 200,000 miles on it. can i switch to regular oil.
