I had an excellent experience with Robert the mechanic. Every thing went as described. He was efficient, knowledgeable, and industrious. No time was wasted and all was completed as scheduled. He communicated well and explained everything he was doing. He thoroughly checked the entire car and found a leaking gasket to be repaired in a follow-up session. I would be pleased to recommend Robert and YourMechanic to one and all. Joe Papa, San jose

Fantastic service! Car was parked at the curb outside an apartment building, with cars in front and in the back. Mark was able to efficiently position himself and get the job done in no time. After replacing the wheel, he checked whether the spare tire was in proper shape and up to the required specs. Overall an awesome experience.

All about Axle/CV Shaft Assembly Replacement

Axle shafts are commonly referred to as “CV axles” or “half-shafts.” An axle shaft is a narrow, pole-like part that connects a wheel to the gears in the transmission. Axles are part of the system that enables the wheels to rotate. One end of the axle shaft is connected to the transmission and the other end is connected to the wheel. The transmission rotates the axle shafts, which rotates the wheels. Without the axles, the tires will not rotate and the car will not move. Axle shafts are comprised of four components: shaft, CV joints, grease and the boots (grease container). The most common reason for the axle to fail is because of the torn boots (grease leaking out). Without the grease, the CV joints will not get lubricated, dirt will enter the joint and the whole axle will eventually wear out.
