I had a 2007 Prius that just wouldn't start. It was my first hybrid and I learned the hard way that you shouldn't go for extended periods of time without driving them. I suspected the 12-volt battery might be out of juice, so I tried recharging it, but it was too dead to even recharge.
So Dameron shows up on a cold day and we can't even get the trunk open because it's electrically operated (although they can be recharged from the front, Prius batteries are installed in the back of the vehicle). Once he got to the battery from the inside, we discovered it had a solid block of ice locking it in place. Dameron was flexible enough to postpone the battery replacement until a warmer day.
On his second visit, the ice had thawed and he was able to get the new battery installed. He got it done fast, but more importantly, he got it done right! The car alarm went off as soon as the new battery was installed and I finally got the engine running again. Just what I needed!
It's not every day that I need to call a mechanic to my home, but if I ever need one again, I won't hesitate to call for Dameron first.
