Q: what problems could occur if the wrong oil is used.

asked by on February 22, 2017

Please explain what problems or issues that could occur if the wrong oil is used when the oil is changed.

Hello. There are many things that could happen if the wrong oil is used in a vehicle. The oil may be too thin or thick to be sucked up into the oil pump, which will cause your engine to suffer from a lack of oil. The oil could be too thin which would cause a reduction in hydraulic resistance between components and the components may become abrasive, leading to engine damage. Another possible outcome is that the oil is too thick which can make the compression values inside of the engine too high, which could cause engine damage as well.
