What do the Maintenance Minder™ codes mean with the multi-information display?

The Maintenance Minder™ system on your car helps you keep tabs on important services like oil changes, transmission services, air filter changes and more. It can display a number of different messages on the screen of your multi-information system. Here are some of the most common and what they mean:

  1. Service Due Soon A: This means that the oil life is between 15% and 6%. Have the oil changed soon.

  2. Service Due Now A: This means that the oil life is between 5% and 1% and you need to have the oil changed immediately.

  3. Service Past Due A: This means that you are now past the end of the oil life. Rather than a percentage, you’ll see a negative number. This is the number of miles you’ve gone over the point where you should have had your oil changed.

The statements expressed above are only for informational purposes and should be independently verified. Please see our terms of service for more details

Engine not turning over when starting.
The most common problem for the engine that will not crank (if the battery is okay) is the starter. I recommend that starter is checked (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-not-starting-inspection) for proper power getting to it from the battery and the ignition switch before...
Car not starting due to alternator problem
If the battery tests well, then it's not likely that the alternator is what's preventing your car from starting; there could be other factors at play here. I suggest having a certified mobile mechanic, such as one from YourMechanic, come...
Slight engine tick, not a bad sound in one but I'd just like if k could fix it.
There are few situations that require the engine to be revved to 2200 rpm when the transmission is in neutral. Some small ticking noises can come from exhaust leaks at the exhaust manifold (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/exhaust-manifold-replacement). One thing some people try to...
Car lunges first gear

This can be due to internal transmission damage or...

White smoke coming from engine and into the car from vents upon starting the car and then clears.
Hi there, Check the fuel system on your engine to see if the fuel pressure regulator is working properly. It seems that either the fuel pressure regulator is putting a higher pressure on the fuel injectors or the cylinders 2...
How to fix? - loud vibrations, rough start, horrible mpg, smells of gas, codes P0420, PO300, PO411, P0016, P2279,allcylndrsmsfr
The most important code here is the P0016. This code is telling you that the camshaft and the crankshaft are out of time and that could explain the misfires and the poor performance. The catalyst and the air injection codes...
Brake squeaking when releasing brake pedal
It could be that you have some debris from brake lining wear built up in the drums that is making the noise, if that's the case a simple brake shoe replacement (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/brake-shoes-rear-replacement) will do the trick. It could also be...
