Q: The dash shows warning lights on, the alarm goes off

asked by on June 15, 2016

Lately, there have been some issues that appear randomly while I'm driving. The dash in my vehicle would show service traction control and service stability control warnings illuminated. Also, the alarm would go off inside the cab. I've been to the shop and they don't seem to know what is the cause of this. I had the brakes checked. I replaced the tires with new ones. All the fuses are new as well. However this issue still happens intermittently. Do you have any idea what I should check next? Thanks.

It is possible that you could be experiencing an alternator failure. When alternators fail, they can cause a number of electrical issues to occur that seem unrelated. My best recommendation would be to have your battery and alternator professionally tested with a digital multimeter to determine whether they are within the manufacturer’s specifications. If these parts are not up to par, have them replaced as soon as possible to prevent these abnormal electrical issues that you are experiencing.

Gas tank seal from the filler neck hose.
The nozzle I believe your are mentioning is the anti-siphon and roll-over check valve. It does not require a perfect seal to the tank. The rubber filler hose slides over it, sealing in fuel vapors. I hope this helps. Put...
What is the problem? No one can tell me
The vehicle idling in park with no A/C does not really require much need for the idle air control valve. Once the vehicle is put in drive, this will put a load on the engine as the A/C will require...

Thank you for your question. We can definitely help you. The only way coolant can "disappear" in your cooling system is through an external or (less common) internal leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/coolant-is-leaking-inspection). YourMechanic can pressurize the cooling system when cold (so it...

Hi Schuyler. I'm sorry to hear you are having a bad experience with overheating on the Scion. The truth is that random overheating problems like you've described are very difficult to pinpoint and isolate. Although many mechanics often assume that...
