Q: Steering wheel stiff

asked by on February 22, 2016

Turning the steering wheel is difficult.

Hello. If it is suddenly hard to turn the steering wheel then the most common cause is the power steering pump. I typically check the belt and the fluid first. If the fluid is low then there is a leak. If the fluid is full and if the belt is in place, then the pump is more than likely bad. If you need to have this issue checked, consider YourMechanic, as a certified mechanic can come to your home or office to inspect your steering issue and replace the power steering pump if necessary.
