Hello. Keys can get stuck in the ignition in several ways. These causes can be electrical or mechanical. If mechanical, the key may be bent. The ignition cylinder can also get dirt and debris stuck inside of it causing a physical restriction or electrical issue. When this happens due to an electrical issue, you can test it pretty easily. Disconnect the negative battery cable and set safely aside (away from anything metal). Wait a few minutes, and try to remove the key like normal. If the key releases you can assume the electronics have failed in some way. If this is the situation, the electronic issue needs to be investigated before a repair can be recommended. A certified technician from YourMechanic can come to your home or office to inspect the electric issue and make the necessary repairs.
