Hi my name is \*\*\*\*\* \*\*\*\*\* I'll be more than happy to assist you, but we need to know the year, make, model, [engine](/topics-engine-gmc/) size, and the problem you are having so that the appropriate expert can help. thank you

1994 gmc sierra 4x4 5.7L V8Transmission not shifting into 3rd or 4th gear, shifts 1st to 2nd a little hard, when it shifts to 3rd the rpms just keep climbing but doesn't slip and rev up.

have you checked the transmission fluid level, color, and smell?

Transmission fluid level is good, smells a little burnt and is a little darker than it should be.
Automotive Expert
ok. drain and refill the tranny fluid. it should be a nice reddish/pink color and not smell burnt. that a beginning point

Ive checked all the wiring, and connectors. I've troubleshot the pcm and it has a good 5v and the signal wire is good. Its pulling code 13, 22, 42, 44

standby please, but you need to drain and refill the tranny fluid. it should be a nice reddish/pink color and not smell burnt.

I understand, but there has to be a reason to start this all of a sudden, and to start pulling codes.

New expert here my name is\*\*\*\*\* fault codes you have listed are all engine related codes and in no way effect the operation of the transmission. As your previous suggested, removing the pan and doing a visual inspection is in your best interest in this situation. Based on your description I actually believe you have an internal problem with the trans that is going to mean you are looking at replacement or rebuild, unfortunately. I hope you found this information helpful. Please let me know if you need additional information regarding this problem. Thanks.

What others are asking

Engine is knocking
Have you checked your oil level lately? Many times low oil level causes low oil pressure. Low oil pressure will make the engine knock because the oil is not lubricating the engine. If this happens for long enough it can...
Brake line leaking
First, you need to determine exactly where the leak is. It could be a line, a rear brake cylinder, master cylinder, caliper, hose, or cruise switch. If you are certain it is a brake line, the line will have to...
Interior lights are on, but car won't start
It sounds like you may have a bad starter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/symptoms-of-a-bad-or-failing-starter). Some times starters will go bad intermittently. This is often due to a loose connection of some sort that causes the voltage to be lost in the path from the...
oil pump drive
Hello there, thank you for asking about your 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix. The pump is self priming. If the red Oil Pressure Warning Light is not on, there is sufficient oil pressure. When engines are assembled, the oiling system is...
Emissions test failed with a new gas cap
Hey there. This may be related to other possible malfunctions in your EVAP system, such as a faulty vent valve solenoid (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/evaporation-vent-solenoid-replacement). The EVAP system prevents fuel vapors from the fuel tank from escaping into the atmosphere. The EVAP system...
CV joint damage
Hello, the CV joints are important components of the vehicle. When the joints fail, they can create vibration and could damage the transmission. Inspecting them should be done at every oil change. Ultimately the CV joint failure will make...
Front End Thumping Noise
Hi there: At first glance, I'd believe this noise is caused either by faulty wheel bearings or perhaps a warped brake rotor. However, it is very difficult to duplicate a road noise issue inside a shop or on a rack....
2004 Nissan Altima- Won't move when the code reads p0420 on the scanner. Did my transmission go? Is it my catalytic converter like code said?
Hi there. The code P0420 (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/p0420-obd-ii-trouble-code-catalyst-system-efficiency-below-threshold-bank-1-by-jamahl-walker) means that the catalytic converter is below threshold and cannot burn off any emissions in the exhaust stream. The O2 sensors have pickup this fault and put the engine into limp mode. As for...
Car using too much fuel
Hi There, Code P0455 indicates you have a loose fuel cap or potentially a large leak in your evaporative emissions control system. I would suggest first trying to tighten the fuel cap as this is a common cause of this....
