Howdy from Tennessee, I'm Chris aka Moose. Who am I helping today? I'm glad you've come here to get help. I will do my best to get the answer you are looking for. I help many customers, so sometimes my replies are delayed, I will respond once available. I try to be online at 1-5 pm and 10 pm-5 am every day. Drop some oil onto toilet paper and see if over time it separates into different colors. If it is straight oil it will only be honey color or black. If you see green at the edges, there is likely fuel in it. Since you have oil in your fuel filter there is for sure oil and fuel mixing in the heads either from faulty injector seals or from porosity cracks inside the head. You can pressure test the fuel supply to the heads to see if it bleeds down. It should not over a 30-minute period. I would start with all new injectors seals Thank you for seeking us for help, I hope I provided what was needed. Press reply if you need to follow up. If you liked my answer please let me know so I can mark your question complete. Moose

Hello, Nathan You are welcome, keep in touch as needed

I saw alot of pepe having injector seal problems there entire filter was just coated black, but I only had a little bit at the bottom of the fuel bowl,Could that mean it's just a seal or two? I mean I'm going to do all of them but I'm just curious

It is pretty much impossible to find out which one is leaking of the 8 injectors and which of the many seals on each injector is leaking. You have likely just caught it early, which is why it is not all that bad. This [engine](/topics-engine-ford/) can run just fine on engine oil, so most never even know there is an issue. I run a quart mixture of old engine oil or [transmission](/topics-transmission-ford/) oil, injector cleaner with cetane booster, and 2 stoke oil in my 7.3 every time I fillup to add more lubrication to the fuel and to add more power and to quieten down the injectors a tad bit. Until it starts smoking from it burning a lot of oil, most have no clue a repair is needed.

as long as I get it fixed pretty soon itll be fine to drive?

For sure, make sure to service the oil too if it has diesel fuel in it.

Right so fox the injector seals and then do an oil change should I run some oil thru it after it's all drain to kinda like flush it out. And how would I clear out cylinders to avoid hyrdolock
Automotive Expert
No need to flush the oil, draining it will be good enough. Prior to installing the injectors. Cover the heads WWWWEEEELLLLL with old towels and then cardboard over the complete engine. Crank it for about 3 seconds, then install the injectors. In the rare event it still hydro locks, just remove the glow plugs and do the towels and cardboard again.

I really appreciate all your help. Thank you
