Thanks for holding, Ronnie. From what you are describing here, this sounds like it will be the case of a problem in the EVAP (emissions control/recovery) System. This warning sets when the on-board computer sees the system is not holding pressure. And it assumes the reason is the problem is the inlet not sealing correctly, resulting in a leak. This will not be the case of a failing Converter. First thing to do here is to use a funnel and open and close the 'flap' located at the top of the fuel filler neck (where you put the fuel dispenser nozzle). Move this flap a few times and make sure it is sealing correctly. If this does not solve the problem, then the next course of action is to have the EVAP system "smoked". This is where a machine forces smoke through the system and any leaks can then be more easily found and repaired.

Can resetting the flap itself possibly fix the issue?

Question: it needs gas. Could my simply putting the gas nozzle in several times correct the issue?

It 'can' but you really don't want to be banging the metal dispenser nozzle against the inlet. It'd be a lot safer to use something plastic, like a funnel, as I mentioned above.
