My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. The ignition system for the 4.9L in your vehicle, should be HEI (high energy ignition) and does not have a CKP (crankshaft position sensor). The pick-up coil is inside the distributor and most likely is not the cause for the erratic idle. It could be, an intake manifold vacuum leak, a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) incorrectly calculating throttle position, or a faulty ISC (idle speed control) stepper motor which contains an idle tracking switch. The low oil pressure light may be related to the low engine rpm and correcting the erratic idle speed may correct the oil light. There is a possibility and should be properly diagnosed, that the oil pressure sensor is at fault. I recommend having your vehicle’s erratic idle be diagnosed and repaired by a certified technician, such as one from YourMechanic.

Why is my transaxle light flashing on and off?
In general, if your dash warning lights (https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/what-does-it-mean-when-the-dashboard-warning-lights-blink) flash briefly right after cranking your engine and then turn off, this is normal. Each system is performing a self-check. The lights turn off after verifying that the systems are operating. If...

Check engine light is on 2014 chevy impala..Auto zone said it was the rocker arm..the chevy dealer said it was the throttle body..
Generally, the check engine light (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/check-engine-light-is-on-inspection) comes on when something fairly serious is going on with the vehicle. This can happen for many different reasons such as a faulty mass air flow sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/mass-airflow-sensor-replacement), a faulty O2 sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/oxygen-sensor-replacement), a...

There are tests for exhaust gases in the coolant so the head gasket can be ruled in or out. A faulty thermostat can cause overheating so, yes, that is a possibility. The cooling system can't be ruled out because certain...
