Hello. If the shifter will not move at all then the shifter interlock may be failing. This system keeps the shifter locked in park until the brake is applied. If the brake switch fails or if the lock solenoid fails then this will occur. If the shifter is moving and just not registering on the transmission then the shifter cable may have broke.
