How to Prepare for the Oklahoma Driver’s Written Test

You have quite a few things to do before you can take your road test and get your license in Oklahoma. Namely, you need to take and pass the written test so you can get your permit and actually practice driving. Nobody likes the idea of needing to take a written test, but it is a requirement, and it makes sense. The state wants to make sure that you know and understand the rules of the road before you are actually out there driving. The test itself doesn’t have to be difficult. If you take the time to study and prepare for the exam, you will not have any trouble passing it. Let’s examine some of the strategies you should employ to get ready for the test.

The driver’s manual

The most important thing to do is to get a copy of the Oklahoma Driver’s Manual so you can study. All of the questions that are on the written test are covered in this manual, so it is essential that you take the time to read it and to study. The manual covers all of the rules of the road including signs, markings, signals, as well as traffic laws and parking laws.

In the past, you would have needed to go and pick up a physical copy of the book, but that is not the case any longer. Now, you can simply download the PDF right to your computer. This will give you access to it whenever you are on your computer. You may also want to add the PDF to your smartphone, e-reader, and tablet. Doing this will allow you to take the manual with you wherever you go, and you may find that you have a few extra minutes here and there that you can study.

Online tests

While studying the manual is vital, you also need to test your knowledge before you actually go in for the real exam. A great way to do this is with online practice tests. One of the sites that you can visit is DMV Written Test. This site features several tests for the Oklahoma written driver’s test that you can take. You will want to study the manual first, and then take your initial practice test to see how you do. Write down the questions you got wrong, as well as the correct answers, and study those areas of the manual again. Then, you can keep taking practice tests and watch as your score improves.

Get an app

To get in even more study time and practice questions, consider downloading some apps to your phone. They are available for iPhone, Android, and other platforms, and many of them are free. Two you might want to consider using are Drivers Ed app and DMV Permit Test.

A final tip

When the day comes for your real test, keep as relaxed as possible and take your time. Never rush through the test, or you will be more prone to making easily avoidable mistakes. If you’ve studied and practiced, you will not have any trouble passing your test.
