How to Get Nissan Dealership Certified

Whether you are a fan of Nissan vehicles or you just like the idea of getting one of the many technician jobs in Nissan dealerships, it has to start with certification. Any automotive technician job requires specific skills and knowledge, and if you are eager to get Nissan dealership certified, you must meet the requirements set out by the manufacturer or use an alternative educational approach.

Nissan owns the Infiniti brand, which means those who become Nissan dealership certified will also learn all about Infiniti vehicles too. Nissan requires dealerships to have a specific number of Service Technicians with full training in each of their four core areas:

  • Electrical
  • Engine
  • Chassis
  • Driveline

To become certified, you must earn it through the company's SCOPE program.

Nissan SCOPE

Nissan's Service Career Opportunities for Professional Enhancement program is their formal certification program for all technicians. It is earned when the tech passes the ASE certifications in those four core areas. There are five different levels of SCOPE achievement, and they are based on the number of specialty areas in which the individual has ASE certification.

The levels include trainee, technician, specialist, senior specialist and master technician. To obtain these ASE certifications requires the individual to affiliate an ASE account with Nissan, and this will allow ASE Certifications to be communicated to Nissan.

Nissan NATT Training at a Technical Institute

In addition to tracking your credentials via the ASE system, you can inform Nissan of your training history and certifications by working with a partnered program. Nissan has also teamed with Universal Technical Institute to offer students Nissan Automotive Technician Training that allows them to work on the entire array of Infiniti and Nissan vehicles. When complete, this training enables the student to have the kind of skills and knowledge deemed the most marketable to Nissan dealerships.

This is a nine-week program that, when complete, provides the student with 60% of the credits needed to become a Nissan or Infiniti tech. This means that employment can begin upon graduation.

During the weeks of training, you will be credentialed in:

  • Express service
  • Nissan electrical systems
  • Nissan chassis and engines
  • Nissan drive trains and climate systems

Emphasizing electrical systems, the training also enables you to handle all aspects of Nissan repair and gives you the credits that both Infiniti and Nissan dealerships seek in their technicians.

Whether you are a student at a technical institute like Universal Technical Institute, or you’re just considering getting your Nissan dealership certification, you can choose from these pathways and obtain one of the mechanic or technician jobs for any Nissan or Infiniti dealership.

Be sure that you are communicating your training to Nissan through their technician database. This will ensure your hard work is rewarded with more opportunities, higher earnings, and ongoing success. Nissan and Infiniti are two enormously popular brands, and the training you obtain through an auto mechanic school or certification process is going to only increase in value over time.
