How to Buy Good Quality Sun Visors

Your car’s sun visors provide you with protection from the sun’s glare while you’re driving. Unless the sun is above the edge of the roof, it’s possible that the glare could at least partially blind you while driving. This leads to serious safety issues, and can result in a loss of control. It’s also more likely to happen at dawn and dusk. If your car’s sun visor (or sunshade, if you prefer) has been damaged, you need to find a replacement.

Quality sun visors are important, but you’ll need to make a couple of considerations before buying one. Does the replacement shade fit your specific vehicle? Does the color match the interior? Does it offer the same functionality as the OEM sun visor?

A couple things to keep in mind:

  • Fit: Make sure that any replacement sun visor you purchase is designed to fit your specific make and model. The packaging or product description should tell you the year models it is designed to work with.

  • Color: Your car’s sun visors are colored to accentuate the interior color scheme. Make sure that the replacement shade is the same color as the passenger side visor (or if you’re replacing both, make sure they match the car’s interior color code, which can be found on the driver side door placard).

  • Functionality: Some sun visors offer only basic functionality – they tilt down to block sunlight through the windshield, and and can be moved to the window to block glare from the side. However, others offer more features, such as a visor extension, or a lighted mirror. Make sure the replacement you buy has the same features as your original.

With the right sun visors, you can protect yourself and others on the road from accidents caused by partial blindness due to glaring sunlight.
