Our mechanics come to you! We connect car owners with independent certified mechanics in their local neighborhood. Not only do we help you find the right mechanic, we also help you: find a fair price for the services, book an appointment with the mechanic you chose, pay for parts and services, and get your car fixed conveniently at your home or office. Here's how it works:
In most cases our system will be able to calculate a fair price instantly. Each of our mechanics has agreed to honor the quotes given to you. This ensures that there will be no need for negotiations or any last minute surprises.
You have the ability to view a mechanic's certifications, work history, ratings and reviews from other customers. When you book an appointment online, you receive:
Your mechanic will come fully prepared to fix your car. He will bring all of the required parts for your car. All you need to do is provide a driveway or parking lot where the mechanic can work. Mechanics cannot work on cars parked on the street.
A credit card is required to book an appointment. We bill your card once the job is complete. No cash is needed and tip is not required.
We stand behind each mechanic in our network. All of the services provided are backed by our 12-month or 12,000 mile service guarantee. You can read more about our guarantee in the Guaranteed Work tab.
Thanks to our Fair Price Calculator, you never have to worry about getting overcharged. We've built a system with a decade's worth of data to figure out how long it takes to do just about any job on any car. For example, we can tell you that the average time for changing a timing belt on a 1995 Honda Accord is 3.7 hours.
With us, you know exactly where your money goes. Our mechanics charge a flat rate for the job based on the fair time calculated by our system, even if it takes them longer to finish the job. Our prices for parts come directly from the wholesalers, so you never have to worry about shady markups on labor or parts. There will never be negotiations or last minute surprises.
Timing belt kit (belt, water pump, tensioner, pulleys) replacement for 1995 Honda Accord:
Fair time calculated by our system: 4.2 hours
Mechanic's hourly rate: $75
Travel fee: $10
Parts from wholesaler: $198.30
Your fair price: = $75 x 4.2 (labor fee) + $10 (travel) + $198.30 (parts) = $529.91
At repair shops and dealerships, mechanics make very little money ($15-$25 an hour) even though you pay anywhere b/w $80-$150 an hour. We connect you directly with independent mechanics. You pay less, mechanics make more and we get a small transaction fee. It is a Win-Win situation.
At YourMechanic, you can trust the people who are working on your car. Our Mobile Mechanics have at least ten years of experience and most are master technicians with ASE Certification. All our mechanics have gone through an extensive screening process including background, criminal, and reference checks.
On a mechanic's profile page, you can see his or her certifications, experience, and the types of jobs they specialize in, as well as feedback from real customers. We constantly monitor the performance of our mechanics to make sure they're providing our customers with the utmost professional and courteous service.
At YourMechanic, we believe in total transparency. That is why we ask our clients to review the mechanics after each job. Unlike listing services, our reviews are only written by actual customers who have used our service. This means you'll always only see reviews based on real work.
At YourMechanic, we know a car's only as good as the parts inside. We work with some of the largest and most reputable wholesalers in the country to make sure your car has the best parts available. And remember, all our parts are covered by a 12-month/12,000 mile guarantee.
Whenever possible, we use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts, the same parts found in new cars. If for any reason the original parts aren't available, we buy OE equivalent or aftermarket parts with reputable brands.
With us, you are always in control. We work hard to ensure the parts we put in your car are the best available. For that reason, we recommend using the OE or OE equivalent parts provided by our suppliers. However, if you choose to buy your own parts, we will be happy to send a mechanic to install the parts for you. Please note that our service warranty is not applicable when you supply your own parts, since we cannot verify the quality of the parts.
Finding the right mechanic and inviting him or her to your home or workplace can be tough. That's why we work hard to make sure that getting your car repaired on-site is easy, professional, and safe.
At YourMechanic, we only allow the most qualified professionals to join our network. Each of our Mobile Mechanics goes through an extensive screening process to maintain the highest standard of service.
Hiring mechanics who don't carry proper liability insurance can be expensive and a hassle. Most buyers only find out about these insurance gaps once it's too late. We ensure that our mechanics carry industry standard liability insurance and that all of our services are covered.
We stand behind the quality of auto repair services provided by mechanics scheduled through YourMechanic.com. All repairs and parts come with a 12-month / 12,000-mile (whichever comes first) warranty. Subject to certain conditions, if any defects in workmanship arise within this period, we will work with you to resolve the issue at no additional cost.
If you pay the mechanic directly for any repair services or if the mechanic performs any job that is not authorized by YourMechanic, this warranty does not apply. Only repair services ordered through YourMechanic are covered by our warranty.
If you ordered a repair service where we did not perform the diagnostic, our warranty only covers the defect in the replacement. (i.e. if you ordered a battery replacement because your car was not starting, if the car does not start after replacing the battery, this warranty does not cover the "car not starting event".)
If after a mechanic performs a service, you have reason to believe the services caused other problems, the warranty will be voided if you hire another mechanic (outside of YourMechanic) to inspect or work on your car. If we send a mechanic to inspect the car and the inspection demonstrates that the problem was indeed caused by the previous service, then the mechanic will fix the car at no cost to you. If the problem was caused by other reasons, the mechanic will bill you for the inspection or any further repair services provided by them.
