Power Brake Booster Repair Service

What is the Power Brake Booster all about?

A brake booster makes it easier to push the brake pedal. It is a vacuum assist system. If the car did not have a brake booster, it would be very hard to push the brake pedal and stop the car. The brake booster is located underneath the hood in the engine compartment, behind the brake master cylinder.

Keep in mind:

The most common reason why a brake booster fails is because the master cylinder is leaking. Your mechanic should inspect the master cylinder to ensure there are no leaks.

How it's done:

  • Remove/replace power brake booster.
  • Check brake fluid level and condition.
  • Check complete brake system for any leaks in system.
  • Inspect the brake master cylinder.
  • Bleed brake fluid system if needed.

Our recommendation:

If you notice a clear fluid underneath your car or on the wheels, get it inspected as soon as possible. Do not drive the car with brake fluid leaking. It can make the brakes weaker and eventually lead to brake failure.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Power Brake Booster?

  • Very hard, stiff brake pedal.
  • Lack of braking power.
  • Hissing noise when stepping on the brake pedal.

How important is this service?

All services associated with proper function of your brakes are important. In addition to safety issues, ignoring small repairs can quickly lead to more serious (and more expensive) problems.

Nissan Pathfinder V8-5.6L - Power Brake Booster - Jacksonville, Florida
Xavier went above and beyond to find us a brake booster that was compatible, even going to the Nissan dealership to get it. And he charged us the promised price even though the part was more expensive than expected. He spend time explaining and asking the right questions to be sure it was what we needed. Highly recommended!

Nissan Frontier V6-3.3L Turbo - Power Brake Booster - Surprise, Arizona
Steven showed up at 10, exactly on time. asked for the keys and went to work. I couldn't ask for more. He said "I'll come back up to the door when I am finished", but i couldn't just leave him alone without checking on him (it is Arizona.) so about an hour later I went out and he'd all but finished. I am impressed with the service and Steven. I will be recommending, Your Mechanic, to my friends, family, and co-workers.
