Ecxellent service
A big thanks to Joe. He was prompt and thorough and got my Jeep back up and running. We did it all on the website and by text -- I wasn't even home when he came to fix the car. Great service. Will definitely use again.

Didn't do work that wasn't necessary and finished in a timely manner....no mess left behind. Would use again.
Richard is very professional. He has a great customer service attitude. He was better than on time. He was quick and very knowledgeable. He is a very good asset to this service. Because of his service I will be recommending your service to as many people as I can. It was a pleasure not having to get in the grease and have someone that I would trust with any of my vehicles. Thanks again for your service.

Casey is friendly and knowledgeable mechanic. Nissan Murano is definitely not the easiest car to work with, but he figured it all out and did a perfect job of replacing a broken alternator. I will definitely use his services again as well as recommend him to my friends and colleagues. YourMechanic is awesome, too. I though it would take at least a few days to get my car fixed, and then I found YourMechanic.com at around midnight, booked an appointment and went to sleep. The next evening my car was already fixed, in less than 24 hours!

Saul was beyond amazing he came out pretty late even though I hadh problems with my appointment and the car listed as mine through the Yourmechanic website, he fixed my appointment, arrived early and he fixed my car with no hesitation in a timely manner and when I say a timely manner I mean possibly less than an hour. Thank you so much SAUL

Noe was great. He had to reschedule my initial appointment, but managed to come two hours early to the rescheduled time. Only took him about 20 minutes to finish his work. Would recommend.

He was came earlier with the right part and great professional services. He went over what was the problem, gave an estimate of the time expected to complete work. When completed within the time he gave, gave diagnosis of other needed repairs, but did not pressure me to have the work done. I was apprehensive of using your mechanic based on some of reviews, but after praying I took a leap of faith. It was a wonderful experience. My alternator was bad and was replaced with a new one . The cost was reasonable. I would use this service again especially if Tomas is my mechanic.

Alternator Repair Service

How does an alternator help your car run?

The alternator is the component that charges the battery in your car. When you use electrical components in your car (stereo, lights, etc.), the battery loses power. The alternator recharges the battery, replenishing the lost battery power. The alternator is located in the engine compartment. If the alternator is not working properly, your car will only stay running for as long as the battery has power stored. Once the battery loses power, your car will not start. Normally, a malfunctioning alternator will turn on the battery warning light or will have a low volt gauge reading.

Alternator

Before repairing the alternator:

The mechanic should check the entire charging system before installing a new alternator, including checking battery cables for corrosion and the condition of the battery.

Steps when replacing an alternator:

  • Inspect entire charging system (battery, cables, alternator).
  • Inspect the drive belts.
  • Test alternator output.
  • Remove and replace alternator if found to be faulty.
  • Re-test alternator output.

Our recommendation for alternator replacements:

Ask your mechanic to inspect the condition of the charging system during every major service. The mechanic should also clean and tighten the battery cables during every major service.

What common symptoms indicate you may need to replace the Alternator?

  • Dead battery or battery will not hold a charge.
  • Dim lights.
  • Battery warning light is on.

Why repairing your alternator is important:

Your alternator charges your battery, which powers the electronics in your vehicle, such as the radio and the air conditioning. The battery is also needed to turn on your vehicle. A malfunctioning alternator will not charge your car’s battery, and your vehicle will eventually run out of battery life and not be able to start.
