Dellanos is a great mechanic. He identified the issue with my car right away. When I asked questions he gave me detailed responses to make sure I understood.
Hugo was personable but created a huge problem by severely over filling the oil. The Volvo S40 is rated to take exactly 6.1 quarts of oil. He filled it with 7 quarts and 8 ounces, way past the maximum fill line. I was standing in my driveway as he was pouring the second of the two 5-quart containers that I gave him. I saw how much he was pouring in and warned him that I thought he was filling it with too much since it should only take 1 quart and 3 ounces from the second container to meet the specification. He continued pouring more oil into it and kept measuring the dipstick after starting the engine for a minute and not allowing the oil to settle. I was certain he had overfilled it, so I checked the dipstick after he had left, and it was very far above the maximum fill line. I measured how much oil was remaining from the second 5-quart container, and he left behind 88 ounces. There should’ve been 125 ounces remaining, meaning he overfilled by 37 ounces based on the spec. I had to file a formal complaint with the company and have them send another technician to drain the excess. If I had not noticed this, the mistake could have significantly damaged the engine.
