Services by Kenneth R. Vinson

I never got to meet Kenneth. I was purchasing a vehicle 400 miles away and was relying on both YourMechanic and Kenneth to give me the info i needed to purchase a used car with confidence. Before booking my pre-purchase inspection, I had seen the car once in person and test drove it. Before going through with the purchase, I decided it would be a good idea to get it inspected. I was wrong to put my trust in the hands of YourMechanic and Kenneth. My report back showed "excellent" in nearly every category, the one recommendation being to replace the cabin air filter. A few months later, I take my car in to a local mechanic to get an oil change and fluid flush. When I pick it up, the mechanic asks if I knew the car had been in an accident. I didn't know what to say. He pointed out a few things that led him to his assessment, and recommended I take it to a body shop to get a quote and better diagnose what may have happened. Within minutes of pulling up to the very reputable body shop and telling them what my previous mechanic had said, the assessor began pointing out even more things that would be obvious to anyone who works in the auto repair industry. One of the more glaring things was that THE VIN ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR DIDN'T MATCH THE ACTUAL VIN. How was something this obvious missed during a pre purchase inspection? Other things include a missing radiator support, multiple fender replacements, fitment issues, and many other things indicating this vehicle had been in a very bad accident. I did run a carfax prior to purchasing, but it did not list any accidents. Apparently the seller went outside of insurance to fix a very bad one. I knew such a thing was a possibility and was one of the main reasons I wanted to order a pre-purchase inspection. Not only did I waste my money with YourMechanic's "pre-purchase" inspection, I was duped into purchasing an accident car with a estimated repair bill of $2,660. Not happy at all and wish I'd went with a completely different company for my pre-purchase inspection.
