Q: Charging system

asked by on May 23, 2017

Never had problems w/ Jeep.. drove a lot Thursday morning, stopped at the store and came back out and it wouldn't start. There was no noise, no attempt at starting, no lights. Got jumped off-- as soon as plugged in and turned key it started right up. Kept plugged in for a couple minutes and it stayed on. Left to drive home and about 10 mins later while driving the Jeep started puttering, all dashboard lights came on and I was able to pull into a parking lot where the Jeep died again. Same thing, no noise, no cranking, no lights-- nothing. Got umped off again, let it sit a couple minutes and then went down the road to O'reillys. Had clerk test battery (he seemed annoyed I asked)-- he said battery and starter was fine-- alternator was bad. Drove home, no problems... left car parked all weekend, started right up on Sunday night-- Monday night left running with all lights and a/c and music on for 30 mins, never died. Drove to work and lunch today-- seems fine. Is it my alternator?
