I recently bought a 1990 oldsmobile cutlass calais. Car makes no knocking noises or anything. It actually sounds great when it runs. But, when I shift into reverse, the car doesn't move. It does shift to reverse. But it won't move. The person I bought the car from said they had already tried replacing the transmission fluid. That didn't fix it. The original owner also said that sometimes the car will reverse, but sometimes it doesn't. I've only had it for a few days and it hasn't reversed at all for me yet. I really don't have the money for a while new transmission, especially if it may just be another smaller issue I can fix.
My car has 125000 miles.
