Q: Will 1qt too much oil damage anything

asked by on

Changed the oil in my truck and put 1 too many qts of oil in. Will this hurt anything? Do I need to drain it?

My car has 12000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Overfilling the oil can cause the crankshaft and piston rods to aerate the oil and could do possible engine damage. You should either drain off one quart to remove and drain the oil filter and reinstall.
