Overtime, oil pan gaskets can develop grime and seal the pan to the engine block. In other instances, excessive vacuum pressure inside the crank cases can cause the pan to ’appear’ stuck. If you’re certain that you’ve removed all bolts, you can use a flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry the pan off without damage in most cases. Make sure to completely scrape the old gasket material off the pan and the engine block before installing a fresh gasket.
