Q: What would make a catalytic converter just fall from a car?

I wanted to know what would cause a catalytic converter to just fall from the bottom of a car? I got my vehicle from a buy here pay here place and I know for sure they got over on me. But I was driving one day and my catatlytic converter just feel from the bottom of my car.

My car has 155000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
