Q: What should I do? I think there is something very wrong with my car that I can't figure out.

asked by on January 21, 2018

Car has loud ticking sound in idle, worse when in operating motion causing the engine to overheat rapidly (I believe). Car recently overheating has occurred recently in rapid succession along with serpentine belt melting off due to bad bearing, circulation issues leading me to flush coolant system, replace the waterpump, and removing the thermostat.. The ticking sound is quite new, I made sure there is oil in the engine, and I have recently preformed an oil change 1-2 months ago.

Any advice on what to do/what might be going on? Car overheats too quickly to even dare to take it to a mechanic shop for diagnostics. My car has 205000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
