Q: What should I change out along side a radiator hose

asked by on March 08, 2017

Okay so I have been driving a lot more recently due to a family member going out of town. And I started noticing that (even when just revving the engine) there was a lot of unusual vibrations when I would reach time to change gears. Now this was manageable and I knew I needed to have some one look at it but I needed to get around so I pushed through. Then there was less tension but as cars pulled up next to me I could hear like a metal grinding sound not constant but every other 3 seconds a "scrape scrape" so I knew I had to take it in but I didn't have the funds so I pushed through. Then pulling up to my house after school I could hear liquid pouring from somewhere while the smell of antifreeze filled the air. I could also now see fumes like a white smoke raising from the engine. So I inspected it after all cooled down and put water in the radiator while the engine ran and noticed in coming out of one the hoses the 2 inch thick one. What should I do?

If the timing belt were to have broken, it would have been associated with a sound such as that. My best recommendation would be to have your timing belt inspected (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/car-is-not-starting-inspection) by a professional. The timing cover may need to...
