Q: Vehicle is getting too hot

asked by on

My car is overheating.

Hi. This could be caused by many things. Check the coolant level. Check the outside of the radiator for debris clogging the airflow. Check the thermostat for proper opening. Check the cooling fan and the water pump for flow inside the radiator. When head gaskets first start to fail, they can cause inconsistent overheating. Check the actual temperature of the engine to rule out a gauge malfunction. If you need further assistance, I recommend you have a certified technician, like one from YourMechanic, inspect the overheating issue with your vehicle and repair any failing components.
