Q: Truck tries to start itself

asked by on January 18, 2017

Speedometer was not working. Replaced Vss on back of tyranny. Battery was dead so I jump started it. Everything worked fine. The next morning there was a clicking sound that would occur every five seconds without a key in the ignition. The battery was dead once again so I jumped it off. The truck started fine but then acted as if it was trying to start even though it was already running. I then replaced starter relay on the firewall and problem still persist. Then I was reading that the ignition switch might need to be replaced. I took old ignition switch out. Went to put new one in and it didn't work. Then I went to put old one back in and it will go back in just fine but the ignition switch will not let me turn it back enough to pull key out. And if I put it to the on position it just wants to come back out and not stay in . I have tried wiggling the ignition switch back and forth to get the pin to lock on there but still won't.
My car has an automatic transmission.
