Q: Truck is revving when I increase speed, not wanting to go into overdrive.

asked by on November 18, 2017

My truck is revving as I increase speed.....usually after I go past 40mph it begins revving, sometimes begins at 30mph. If it beings at around 30mph, it will go into gear if I let off the accelerator. However, after 40mph the rpm's just climb as I accelerate. It will not go into overdrive. (Example: at 50mph the rpm is at approx 3,000). Could this be the shift solenoid(s) or something else?

My car has 194000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
