Q: transmission not engaging correctly

i was driving and i noticed that my transmission is having trouble shifting into 4th and 5th gear, it shift from first through third gear fine, when im in 3rd gear i can put the vehicle in netural then back in drive and it will sometimes shift into 4th but not all the time. the transmission does not grind either, just wont go into gear correctly
