Q: My 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe will not engage the transmission

asked by on June 24, 2017

Hi I recently purchased a 2 door Tahoe 4x4 and the vehicle was sitting for two years I changed oil, spark plugs etc. Drove it home but half way there getting off the highway in my very fist stop light the transmission started to feel like it was slipping and then stoped moving forward I pulled over and I started to see little smoke for about 5 seconds and then it stoped. The truck cooled down. I started it and it moved forward but didn't want to engage enough power to the wheels.

My car has 148000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
