Q: Toyota Matrix shifts from drive to 2nd, skipping 1st

asked by on

Several times my Matrix has shifted from Drive to 2nd gear, skipping 1st. What causes this and how can it be fixed?

The manufacturer has a technical service bulletin (TSB) for harsh shifting intermittent and calls for the engine control module to be replaced and programmed to work for your vehicle. You may have code P2716 in memory if your vehicle is having the problem.

Call a mechanic to come to you and test the system for trouble codes and diagnose the problem for you.
