Q: Tire Rub on 66 mustang

asked by on

Whenever I go over a bump or more that 2 people are in the car, I can hear the back drivers side wheel rub. Do I need stiffer shocks? Are the tires too big for the car?

My car has 16500 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

Hi there. It could be a combination of both worn shocks or tire diameter is too tall. If the rear end has not been altered from stock, the rear tire can be +1 in overall size and typically not impact the ride height or hitting the top of the wheel well. In most cases, the problem is due to worn shocks or even body mounts.
