Q: Suggested maintenance before pulling a uhaul trailer 2006 Saturn Vue

asked by on April 12, 2017

My family is moving from Portland to Tucson the first of June. Pulling a 6' × 12' trailer is more than half the cost of pulling my car behind my car, also my family can't fit in the uhaul. The trip roughly 1600 miles on I5, 6 days and a couple stops along the way. My Saturn has a little over 160,000, is my daily city driver and I haven't had any major problems in the 4 years I've had it. Definitely starting to notice the wear and tear beginning. Honestly I'm not the best at scheduled maintenance, oil changes and new brake pads is all I've done. What do I need to take care of in general to make this a safe trip and still be able to drive my car when it's over? Thank you for your time.

My car has 160000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.

My steering wheel is shaking
Just because the wheel has weights attached to it doesn't mean it is balanced correctly. My guess is that the wheels/tires are out of balance.
