Q: Stiff gear lever in 01 Jetta with manual transmission

asked by on

My dad has an O1 Jetta with a manual transmission. The gear lever is very stiff to engage in most gears, especially first gear.

Check the linkage on it. You probably need new bushings on the linkage because they are flat and worn out. If you want to have this verified technician, consider YourMechanic. They will be able to visit your vehicle at your home or office to inspect your gear shifting issue and make the repairs needed to have this problem resolved.
