Q: Sound

asked by on March 29, 2018

As I drove my vehicle straight on a plain road, I heard a noise from the right side of the drivers wheel. the noise was like a hollow metal road dragging from under the car along when I drove. I stopped the car and then again started. I still heard the sound but this time little lesser. Like driving a car with flat wheel. I drove very slowly and the sound persisted for nearly 10 to 20 seconds and it stopped. After that I've not heard that sound again. In my previous regular car service my brake discs were replaced. I took the vehicle for inspection and I had 2version of diagnosis. 1) one mechanic said the drive shaft could only cause that sound and said the drive shaft has to be replaced. But I didn't see any break in shaft when the car was kept raised. I hear a minute tick tick sound ocassionally when I turn my steering to either right or left. 2)The other mechanic said there is no sound heard when the vehicle is turned to right or left and also driven straight. It could just be a st

I hear a clicking sound when I turn left.
It sounds like you may have a bad cv joint. I would recommend having a YourMechanic technician come out and diagnose the clicking noise (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/loud-clicking-noise-when-i-turn-the-car-inspection) and they can install a new cv joint one as well if that is in...

The car has reduced engine power
Hello there. There are many potential causes for reduced power output. The most likely would be the fuel pump (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-pump-replacement), low fuel pressure, battery (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/battery-replacement), alternator (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/alternator-replacement), or fuel filter (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/fuel-filter-replacement). A bad throttle sensor (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/throttle-position-sensor-replacement) can cause this issue...
Air conditioning blowing hot. 2006 Scion tC
If your A/C compressor clutch isn't engaging, the most common cause is low refrigerant (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/top-off-coolant) in the system. The only way to check this is to connect an expensive machine to your car, remove the refrigerant and weigh it. Doing...
Heater blowing lukewarm air. Had thermostat and gasket changed plus heater core back flushed. No change.

My 2009 Equinox is overheating intermittently. It overheated in the summer and tnen not again for 3 months then twice in one week
Check the coolant level to be sure it is adequate. Of course, if the coolant level is low enough to cause overheating, you may have a coolant leak (https://www.yourmechanic.com/services/coolant-is-leaking-inspection). If the overheating is intermittent that would point to a possibly...
Car does not move when clutch is released
Hi There, It sounds like you may have a worn out clutch disk that is causing the clutch to slip entirely when you release the clutch pedal. The clutch transmits engine power to a gearbox, and allows the transmission to...
My 2002 Saturn Vue's rpms started revving into 4-5k when up shifting. Later that day the clutch went out. Now the starter is out.
Hello, thank you for writing in. The decision to invest in an older car is difficult, even more so when you do not have the car in front of you. A failed clutch can interfere with the flywheel causing the...
a/c making boiling noise
Hello, thank you for writing in. The noises you are hearing may in fact be bubbles in the system. If the refrigerant is low, there may be air caught in the system instead. As the air conditioner processes and vaporizes...
