asked by on

It sounds like you are asking about a parasitic drain on your battery after leaving the car idle for a while. Once the key is pulled from the ignition, the several computers in the vehicle run a few checks before the vehicle completely shuts down, but this process shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes. A parasitic drain test can be done on the vehicle to see if there are any circuits staying live for too long which usually means there is a shorted circuit or failed sensor somewhere. Consider hiring an experienced technician like one from YourMechanic who can come out, run the parasitic drain test and offer a more personal diagnosis if the battery drain and estimate the proper repairs.
