Should my 2 cylinder 2016 Ford Focus jump start any car with more cylinders than mine?
My car has 4200 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
Hi There, The number of cylinders is not necessarily the question in this case, but rather the load the other vehicle will put on the charging system of your vehicle as a result of the power needed to start the other vehicle. With that said, generally larger displacement engines have more powerful charging systems as they require more power to run them and turn them over when starting. In many cases, this is not advisable in a situation where there is a large difference in the required cranking power between engines (i.e. I would not recommend trying to jump start a large diesel engine with your vehicle). If you are trying to jump start another vehicle with a similar engine size (i.e. 4 cylinder or even 6 cylinder), you should be fine.
