I recently had a short shifter installed on my car. A week later, the shifter dropped and won't go into any gears, making it undriveable.

What probably happened is that a bolt or nut has worked itself loose and lost control of the shifting linkage. Maybe some Loctite on the threads could help prevent this from happening again. Have a certified mechanic diagnose this shifting issue and repair it for you.
