When you put the car in drive the lights on the dash show neutral and drive both lit up. Will not move until you rev the engine and then it lunges forward hard
My car has 60000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
The operation of the "manual lever" on the transmission case should be checked, particularly the adjustment of the shift cable to the lever. It may be that the lever is straddling two positions (two "indents"). The harsh engagement just represents the lever eventually "falling" into the drive position, probably just due to vibration as you increase engine speed. There are other possibilities, of course, but certainly the foregoing is at the top of the list. To get this resolved the recommended service is a shift selector cable/linkage inspection or replacement. If you request that service, the responding certified mechanic will get this taken care of for you.
