Q: Security indicator light

I have a 2011 Dodge Nitro and I've been having issues with my security indicator light...I've replaced the battery, my key battery, ignition switch and my alternator is fine..but I was told from the auto stores that my key itself may need to be reprogram to my Dodge..if that's the case then is there a way to reprogram the key myself without paying 100's of dollars for a new one...
