Q: Scratching squealing sound coming from the belts
My 1.8 is making a scratchy squealing sound coming from the serpentine belt pulleys. I found out it was a sound from an alternator worn bearing shaft. It caused my lights to dim and brighten when I would press my foot on the gas pedal and let it off. When the shaft was turning it made a bearing grinding sound. I had the alternator rebuilt at a local repair shop. Then I reinstalled it started the engine and only part of the squealing scratchy sound was gone. So now I think it might be the belt tension pulley. Do you have any advice and ideas? I appreciate it.
