Q: repalcing ecm

asked by on

can i replace an a03 ecm with a01?
My car has a manual transmission.

It’s best to only replace the ECM with the exact same part number. Chances are it will run on the other ECM as the difference is probably minor, but it is a different part number for a reason. Could be something with emissions options or regional options such as a cod weather vehicle vs hot weather vehicle, but there will be some difference that could cause a problem down the road. I would suggest only using an ECM with an identical part number. If you want to have the parts sourced, ordered, and installed for you, contact a professional technician, such as one from YourMechanic.
