Q: Oil pressure readout increases when applying brake

asked by on August 24, 2017

My oil pressure used to always read right aroun 60. Recently it idles and runs reading right around 20. When I apply the brake pedal it shoots up to 40, as soon as I let off the brake it drops back down to 20. No movement of the needle while accelerating, givers right around the 20 mark. No oil light on. Oil levels checked out good/ fairly clean. Is this just a bad oil pressure sensor? Not sure how the brake system would directly affect this read out.

My car has 240000 miles.
My car has an automatic transmission.
